a crochet bear kind of Christmas

Well hello there bear.  You look nice.  Want to make a little gal smile on Christmas Day?

Original title of this post was...I made a bear.  I made a bear!

I'm so chuffed, my first ever crochet toy and it turned out okay, if I do say so myself.

This super cool bear pattern is from my favourite lady crochet queen, Nicki Trench, other crochet designers are available, I promise!

Details for crochet swots are on my Ravelry page.

Christmas for my two gorgeous nieces will be beary nice this year...see what I did there? hey? hey?

This girl melts my heart, oh about a hundred times a day.

lovely things #3

I'm officially devoting the month of November to being thankful, just like our American buddies but without the big turkey dinner....save that for next month.

What? what was that? But you're a vegetarian you say, yes well I think the baby might need Mummy to keep her strength up and turkey is fricking poultry gold isn't it!

We have been showered with so much love, affection and the most amazing gifts since Betsy's arrival in the world and as a devoted blogger (I have even learned how to type one handed with babe in arms!!!), I want to return the love and let those people know how much their thoughts mean to me.  I am unapologetic, just like Rihanna, only not quite so young and fabulous!

Things may return to normal come December but I'm not promising anything.

Lovely things #3 is devoted to my great bloggy friend Mirjam.  She has a wonderful, creative and crochet-tastic blog called Stins (her nickname), which I love.  Plus she is smashing, she wrote me a little note during my absence after Betsy's birth which really cheered me up and that meant a lot. A LOT.

Anyway lovely Mirjam, just like lovely Alessandra, sent me the most amazing parcel of love all the way from Holland this time....I opened it up and was greeted with hot chocolate (yum), a beautiful purple and blue flower brooch and Betsy got this...

....the coolest gift ever, the most colourful and pretty fish softie ever.  Betsy gets it waved in her face a good few times a day even though she has yet to focus properly on stuff.  I have to get the pattern from Mirjam and have a go at making one of these, every baby should have one!

A great big thank you and kisses across the Channel to Mirjam who has once again made me feel humbled by how great the blogging community is, so nice to feel so much love - and, you know, brilliant to get such great gifts too :o)

lovely things #2

To get lovely things in the post is one of life's great joys.  Isn't it?

This week I had such a lot of joy in the post, this parcel was very special indeed.  It came all the way from Jakarta in Indonesia. All the way from flipping INDONESIA!!! Amazing.

And not only that but inside the box were lots of lovely little packages all beautifully wrapped up by my lovely blog friend Alessandra from homemade@myplace.

She not only sent presents for Elizabeth but for me and Tilly too.  We were all very spoilt. Tilly in particular was most grateful for her delicious bag of dog treats, she has gone from being the most spoilt dog in the world to the least in a matter of weeks and she is not amused!

Elizabeth got these beautiful booties, handmade by Ale, she wrote about them here in our very own post (we are like famous now and everything!!) and we love them.  I'm pretty certain they are way too cute for wearing, I'd be too scared of ruining them.

She also got the most amazing and pretty granny loveheart garland, I can't wait to get this up on her nursery wall - that is when Betsy allows me some time to do anything other than feed her, burp her and change her smelly (but dead cute) bum!

Right I'm off to cuddle my gorgeous daughter, I just wanted to take the opportunity to say a big, big thank you to Alessandra.  It really cheered me up to receive this box of love especially from someone I only know through blogging, it goes to show how wonderful the world is and I feel very chuffed to have a friend like Ale  (so does Tilly, she can't believe someone finally remembered her)!!

Sending kisses to Jakarta.

lovely things #1

It goes without saying that Betsy is the most lovely thing in this house (sorry Tilly).

However, over the past few weeks she has been inundated with the most beautiful, thoughtful gifts imaginable from our family and friends.  She sure is a loved and lucky girl and all her gifts, absolutely all of them are wonderful, we love them.

Of course, me being a self-confessed crochet addict, the handmade gifts are the ones that make me swoon - this may be because I know how long it takes and how much effort is required to make stuff!!

Take this blanket for instance, aka lovely thing #1, sent to us from my beautiful friend Lucy. She told me that she started making it when I told her that I was pregnant and I have to say that it is stand out amazing, what a treat to get this in the post.

Such a classic design with gorgeous bright colours and pretty edging... we love it.

Thank you to everyone for all your love and best wishes.  Thank you especially to Lucy, who isn't an actual blog friend but does blog here, we love Betsy's stylish blanket and will treasure it forever.

4 weeks

Baby feet.  Sheer bliss to nuzzle and kiss, I confess to being slightly obsessed with my very own pair.

They are just scrumptious.

Our girl was four weeks old yesterday, time is flying past so quickly and I'm busy loving every minute I get to spend with her.

She has completely stolen my heart.

She loves sleeping, waving her arms around wildly, and having a bath.  We think she smiles when she gets in the bath but everyone else says its wind!

Still in a daze, expected to be wafting around, dressed and made up and taking it all in my stride.  Instead I feel lucky if I brush my teeth before dinner and have never spent so much time in my pyjamas!

Normal business may return soon.
